At Optime, we believe in going above and beyond, not just in recruitment, but also in supporting the communities we serve. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to join Birmingham Airport’s monumental year-long fundraising campaign for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, with an ambitious target of £100,000 for 2025!
The Big BHX Abseil: A Challenge Conquered!
On 4th June, our brave team from Optime faced their fears and successfully took part in The Big BHX Abseil! This thrilling challenge saw our team members bravely complete a 100ft descent down Diamond House at Birmingham Airport. It was certainly a scary experience, but we are incredibly proud to have faced the challenge head-on and completed it, all for a cause that touches so many lives.
We’re even more thrilled to announce that, thanks to the overwhelming support and incredible generosity from everyone who donated, Team Optime successfully raised over £500! This contribution directly supports the vital funds needed for the exceptional work carried out by the hospital and its charity.
What’s even more incredible is that, from all the participants, this amazing event collectively raised over an astounding £28,000, absolutely smashing the initial target of £15,000!
The courage and commitment of our team reflect the wider dedication of Birmingham Airport and all involved in this year-long fundraising drive. Every pound raised will make a tangible difference to thousands of children, women, and families who rely on the hospital’s compassionate care and specialist services. This incredible amount will have a real impact on the children who depend on the hospital, helping to fund vital equipment, pioneering research, and much-needed support services.
A Year of Incredible Challenges and Community Spirit
The Big BHX Abseil is just one of many exciting events Birmingham Airport has planned throughout 2025 to help support the charity. Their event calendar is packed with challenges, including the Birmingham Run Festival, Birmingham Triathlon, and Dragon Boat Race. Further events include the Great North Run half marathon, National Three Peaks, Summer Wolf Run, and Tough Mudder, alongside community initiatives like a Pre-loved clothing sale and the Runway Christmas Dash! This range of activities demonstrates the airport’s commitment to the cause, bringing together staff, partners, and the wider community for a shared purpose of making a significant difference.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity is the fundraising arm for a leading, specialist paediatric centre, delivering some of the most advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures, and cutting-edge research to over 100,000 children and young people from across the UK and beyond. Every patient and family benefits from the charity, but the impact of fundraising is much more than purely financial. This crucial work impacts many, with one in eight children from the West Midlands being treated at the hospital every year.
